Die funkenschlagenden Performances von Funkenstroem sind berüchtigt für Energie und Vorwärtsdrang. Gepaart mit leichtfüßigen Emotionen und tiefem Groove erzeugt er eine vielseitige, ganz eigene Note, fern ab von jeglichen Kategorien und schafft doch immer wieder Ohrwürmer, dass man vor Glück einfach nur mitfeiern kann. Die EP „up to you“ schält ein Konzentrat aus den Livesets und ist ein kleiner Ausschnitt aus den komplexen Werken schweißtreibender Nächte.

Warm und weich schlägt der cremige Bass ins Ohr. Sehr soulig und mit Liebe zum Detail fügen sich die Elemente zusammen, bis man sich plötzlich in einer schillernden Orgelsphäre wiederfindet. Ob man hier mit der gewissen Tragik schwebt, oder dem sohlenschwindenden Groove folgt, ist dem herzhaften Gemüt überlassen.
Carneval
Bongos und Shaker greifen hier folkige Rhythmen auf. Ein abwechslungsreiches Ensemble aus flackernden Synthi-Lichtern spielt Melodien, wie ne Big Band in Rio. Stilmittel von Minimal bis Maximal und trotzdem rund..

Prägnant schiebt sich das peitschende Thema aufmüpfig an dem metallischen Synth voran und lotet zusammen mit dem druckvollen, knarzigen Sägezahn Bass jede Frequenz im Spektrum aus. Das Highlight aus ravigem Techno und clashigem Elektro wurde bei allen Gigs  mit dem Ausflippen der Leute honoriert. Dauerbrenner.

Bongo and shaker take on some folk rhythms, a diverse synth-ensemble flickers melodies like a Bing Band in Rio. Putting all styles between minimal and maximal into one box, but still with smooth round edges.
How to Survive Above the Clouds
An impulsive, slightly respectless motif moves along its metallic synth, concisely fathoming the whole sound spectrum along with a punching and grating saw-bass, thus filling every frequency band to the max. Being a highlight to all of Funkenstroems gigs, this clash of Rave, Techno and Electro has put the crowd in a wild frenzy
